The mother of pearl and eggshell used to create this coral design is painstakenly
inlaid by hand.
Lacquer is a natural product derived from a native Vietnamese tree. Lacquerware making has been practiced for more than 2000 years and has changed very little over the centuries, although many dramatic new colors and designs are now being produced.
Each piece must pass through at least 12 stages of production, with the process taking up to two months to complete. The end products are durable and food safe, but not intended for microwave or dishwasher use.
